Description of work:
I used The Electrician a week ago to repair a bunch of GFCI out lets to test all the new electrics, put in some Decora switches and outlets. His charges were $75 per hour.

Customer's Comment:
He was a very good guy. I worked as his assistant actually. He is a real nice guy to talk to. It is very unique to have such good people. He showed up when he said he would show up. He called me in advance to say that he was on his way. He had all the parts that we needed to do the repairs. His hourly rate plus the price for the parts were very reasonable. He did not complain about climbing and he was highly experienced. I will use him in the future.

Converted 30 year old kitchen florescent lights to recessed lighting

Customer's Comment:
George did a great job for a fixed price. He helped us configure the right places for the lights then took down the old apparatus and installed the recessed lighting and it looked great. He is friendly, and knowledgable. The recessed lights including removal and new hardware were a flaT $125 EACH. Great job. The he also cleaned up some minor other electrical issus for us (a new switch, a new plug, an outdoor light that was not working).

George upgraded our electrical box from 100 amps to 200 amps.

Customer's Comment:
George came the day after we spoke. He gave a written estimate and after we agreed to continue, began work. He arranged with the local electric company to come in as well as the building inspector. His work was neat, efficient and he was very personable. George takes great pride in his work and followed up with us to make sure we were happy. Thanks George!

Description of work:
George installed a brand new electrical panel and put in an electrical box in a kitchen cabinet so my oven could plug right in, as opposed to being hooked up via an extension cord.

Customer's Comment:
The electrical panel in my condo had been "upgraded" by a previous homeowner and was a mess of wires and very old. George bought a new panel, hooked everything up, and patched up the drywall to make everything look nice and neat. Plus, underneath my kitchen cabinet I had some additional wires that didn't need to be there so he took care of it with some type of electrical box. Both projects work and look great!

Description of work:
A large number to small-medium tasks involved with the purchase fo an existing home were completed: troubleshooting; GFCI outlet installation; receded-lighting installation; new light fixture installation; removal of excess DSL, telephone, and cable wiring; moving fixtures and power outlets.

Customer's Comment:
George, assisted by his wife, met all expectations. He was always on-time (well, early), professional, mild-mannered, knowledgeable, and skilled. I think the scope of the project was bigger than he first estimated, but he carried on like a trooper. He also accommodated some mid-project additions.

Description of work:
I had a problem with a specific electrical circuit that was not working properly. I already knew what the probable cause was and the specific circuit. However, I could not identify the exact problem.

Customer's Comment:
I asked George to come in and identify the circuit problem and give me a recommendation as to how best to fix it. He took about an hour to narrow down the problem (something that i had already spent 4-5 hours on) and from there, it took 20 minutes to find the exace wire (broken neutral on a wall switch- affecting everything else on that circuit). The repairs were simple and took a few minutes. Overall, George save me a lot of time it would have taken to continue to isolate the problem. He was patient, punctual, polite, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him for the type of work that seems to plague a lot of homeowners. In addition, his price was very reasonable. I know other electricians that would have charged considerably more than the $75 per hour that he charged.

Description of work:
Mr. McCutcheon installed six canister lights in our very dark den. This was not an easy job, since it was on the ground floor of a two-story house.

Customer's Comment:
George promptly returned all calls and came to give an esitmate quickly. He is very experienced and professional. His assistant is his lovely wife, Linda. He was easily the most competitive price-wise, and he works "clean" - a lot of folks just kind of let the dust fall over without taking time to cover the furniture, etc. George has real pride of his workmanship, that in my opinion, a lot of the larger contractors lack. He is just top-notch, not just as an electrician, but as a person too. I highly recommend him and Linda.

Description of work:
Put in an electrical outlet for a new dishwasher. The original dishwasher had been hardwired in and the new one couldn't be installed until the new electrical outlet was put in.

Customer's Comment:
We bought a new dishwasher and when the people came to install it they discovered that the old dishwasher was hardwired and not to code. It required us to have a new electrical outlet put in. I called George on a Monday and he came on Tuesday afternoon. He was very accommodating and sensitive to our schedules. We really Appreciated that. He was on time and extremely professional. We all thought it would be an easy job, but our house is nearly 80 years old and any sort of electrical work always turns out to be an adventure. George had to figure out where the wiring for the dishwasher actually was, especially since it wasn't wired into the main house panel. It took several hours and several trips to the basement to find the connection. Once he found the connection, it was a pretty straight forward installation. George was very professional and personable. When we are ready to remodel our kitchen we will have him do the electrical work. He is a consummate professional.

Replaced 6 ceiling fixtures with recessed lighting, replaced 3 ceiling fixtures with electrical boxes, and replaced a shop light with recessed lighting.

Customer's Comment:
George did an excellent job with this project. He replaced the ugliest ceiling light ever with beautiful recessed lighting. He quoted a difficult job and scheduled it perfectly. He was able to coordinate his work with of a dry-waller and together they finished the job beautifully.

George replace a faulty GFI outlet and troubleshot a non-funcitonal doorbell.

Customer's Comment:
I called George and left him a message. He called back a couple of hours later and said he was free that night to come by. He's up near Disneyland, but he came down to Laguna Hills for me, which I thought was nice. He charges $75/hour and does not charge a travel fee, which is a great deal. He arrived on tiime. He was very good about taking his shoes off in my house even though i insisted that he didn't need to. He quickly fixed the GFI outlet. He said the doorbell could not be easily fixed (which is what I was expecting), but he came up with a couple ideas about how to re-run the doorbell wiring. His though process on finding the best solution was very good...he is definitely very passionate about his job and solving problems. I ended up not having him do it because i decided to just use a wireless doorbell. He's professional, friendly, offers the best prices, and the quality of his work is top notch (as a small example, in the GFI outlet he replaced, he made sure it was completely square. It's a small detail but a clear sign that he's a perfectionist).

Description of work:
George diagnosed why one room had lost power, ran a new circuit from breaker board to the wall outlet that provided to have the bad junction, and tied off and sealed away the old head wiring. Running the new circuit involved cutting a channel through the stucco to the breaker box, running wire through the attic, cutting a hole in the drywall behind the fridge, dropping the line to the junction box, and wiring it up brand new. Then he patched up the drywall and stucco.

Customer's Comment:
Everything went perfectly, but the best part was how after he figured out the problem, he gave us three solutions. Cheap fix would be to fix just the bad junction box. That would just cost the price of the visit. For slightly more and in a few hours he could tie the powerless plugs into a circuit that was powered nearby. Or for more, and with most of a day, he could go all out and do what he did. Having an honest breakdown and having the ramifications clearly explained was incredible. Since the room has our home entertainment setup, we chose the dedicated new circuit.
